Sleep Disorder Products from Respiratory Therapy Specialists Inc.
At Respiratory Therapy Specialists Incorporated, we pride ourselves in being experts not only in home oxygen therapy but for those people with sleep disorders warranting therapy, we provide patients with a wide range of services.
Some patients have a sleep disorder called Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) which at times can be easily identified by a physician by way of history alone.

For these patients, when they fall asleep at night the muscles in their airway relax causing the airway to collapse on itself.

This is sometimes evident by snoring while sleeping and the patient being very fatigued in the daytime.

With a special device called CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) and a nasal mask, air can be pushed into the patient's airway such that it is forced to stay open rather than collapse.

This results in the patient getting a better night's sleep, including better oxygenation and higher quality sleep, and also the patient can perform better during the day.

Overnight Oximetry Sleep Studies
Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure

For these patients we can monitor the levels of oxygen in their blood while they sleep.

A complete report is printed following the study and is sent to the referring physician for review.

This is one of the services we offer free of charge to the patient.

Sleep Studies
sleepstudies.gifStardust is the small sleep recorder with enough power to generate comprehensive seven- channel reports, yet it's so light, patients wear it on their chest while they sleep.

This combination allows for more natural sleeping conditions for the patient and greater scheduleing flexibility for the sleep lab.

In fact, patients can use the Stardust at home to complete initial sleep studies, giving the lab reliable baseline data before spending a night at the sleep lab.

Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure
bipapWe also can provide assistance to those patients requiring assistance with each breath. This device provides two levels of positive pressure given on each breath.

The first pressure being the highest is delivered to a peak to help with inspiration. The second pressure is set at a lower level so that the patient can exhale after breathing in.

This therapy is provided in much the same way as CPAP, with a device that provides the pressure in combination with a mask.
